A hot and sunny, but still beautiful Umbria welcomed in Collazzone, in the province of Perugia, the crews of the Italian XTC Collazzone 2015. Vast area hosted the 4th stage of the 2015 season. On 11th and 12th of July 24 teams raced.
This year, the club Brigata Off Road 4×4 Umbria played a large and important work on the tracks, they prepared lots of new special stages. In this way, the organizer Nicola Bianchi could, once again, offer its numerous competitors a variety of obstacles and different types of soil, confirming the completeness and technical difficulty of XTC 4×4. At Collazzone, crews have faced very difficult paths and pitfalls that have forced both drivers and navigators to never lower their guard.
Heat and the physical fatigue played a huge role and distractions resulted in major errors. Nicola Bianchi made sure all the crews get water and fresh fruit to combat dehydration.
On Saturday, the SuperSerie category was dominated by Mandarelli-Turriziani team ACH 4×4, which have faced the 5 special stages with determination and focus, Sturniolo-Passino team Traction 4×4 didn’t want to overdo it in the beginning of the race and their strategy paid off with a strong second place. Third place was taken by Alessandrini and Tiberiani.
Among the Preparati class, three teams – Arrigucci-Arrigucci, Rubechini-Franceschini and Morandini-Morganti led the race followed by a pack of cars.
The Specials class had three very hard stages to finish.
Lorenzo Tadini, copiloted by Paolocarlo Donati, earned the 1st place. Luciano Collarini dared the impossible on any occasion giving the public a spectacle. Collarini finished second on Saturday. In third place we were pleased to find Simone “Bumba” Cognini and Andrea Aguzzi. Their prototype is not as powerful as those of Collarini and Tadini, but Cognini-Aguzzi with their great technique and knowledge overpassed their mechanical inferiority.
On a very hot Sunday, in Superserie class, team Traction 4×4 dominated the day by winning two of the three special stages. Alessandrini and Tiberiani earned second place thanks to an excellent and clean conduct of both the driver and the copilot. Team ACH 4×4 was unable to stand on the podium with a third place, so the lowest step of the podium was taken by Mandarelli – Turriziani..
Among the Preparati class, the victoy was taken by Morandini and Morganti, folowed by Arrigucci brothers and Rubechini-Franceschini team.
Team Collarini-Koci won the won the Speciali class, followed by Cognini-Aguzzi and Buggiani-Pellegrini.
After two days of thrilling off-road, the fourth stage of XTC 4×4 ends in a true spirit of Xtreme Trophy Challenge Italy which can be summarized in: beautiful people, friendship and sportsmanship! On 5th and 6th September 2015, the grand finale will be held, Surely, we will witness a great race.
