The 2015 Polaris RZR Mint 400 has officially started as hundred race cars marched down the Las Vegas strip.
Larry Ragland, this years Grand Marshall was leading the parade. Matt Martelli expressed his feelings about the convoy, saying it is really great to show at least a tiny peace of this race to Las vegas tourists.
Two great events were held before the official racing has started.
The Miss Mint contest. This years Miss Mint is Amy Scott from California. It’s a nice prize, she’ll take home 5.000 $ and represent the race next year.
The next thing was KMC wheel Pit Crew Challenge by Mystic Lubricants.
The worst thing in all kinds of racing is to “forget” about the pit-crew or the co-driver. Pit Challenge reminded about the importance of the pit teams.
4 Class 1500 teams and 10 Trick Trucks teams competed for some great prizes from FOX Shox, KMC Wheels, Mystic Lubricants…
Unfortunately, desert racing can be a cruel sport, two racers were injured in a multi-car accident the next day. The Mint was paused for an hour. No spectators were involved.
The accident happened during the second race of the day.
After all the drama, Justin Lofton took the overall win in his Jimco truck.
“The truck ran flawlessly all day long.” – said Robby Gordon who finished second.
The next BITD race awaits us on 27th of March – Pro Nevada 200 Trail Ride.
