Project revolver by Ciapella Garage is a prototype based on a tubular custom chassis. Bodywork is made of aluminum.
The name REVOLVER comes from Freelander, Volvo and Rover, it’s a vehicle of extreme capabilities with a Land Rover V8 heart and Volvo portals.
The wheelbase was carefully measured so the V8, RR gearbox and portals would fit perfectly. It was also very important for the shocks and the 4-link to work as intended.
An interesting thing about the suspension. Above every shock there’s an airbag. Each airbag has it’s own switch so the vehicle can be lifted as needed. It’s a great thing to minimize the chances of a rollover if used correctly.
Volvo portal axles were chosen for their high ground clearance and integrated diff locks. The brakes are custom made with a combination of Land Rover and Toyota parts.
Every serious type of 4×4 demands spare parts, Both 4-links are identical so there is no need to complicate with various differences of spares.
Of course, for this kind of vehicle to be 100% useful, nothing is going to work without winches.
Both winches are mounted in the rear area of the car, the main winch is mechanical and is custom made by a Maltese company Kamoy Engineering. For the backup winch they chose a Warn 8274.
Such vehicle isn’t complete without winches and winches don’t work without batteries. Two Optimas do the job just fine.
The car was finished in just 18 months and their first race was Croatia Trophy.
Maybe we’ll see them this year too.
