We all know the importance of ingenuity in off road. Imagine you are in the middle of nowhere and you need water. Yes, of course you can get it from the nearby creek. Or you have a full jerry can in the back. But for some reason, having pressurized water is more convenient. Our modern way of living made us soft and spoiled. Well, here’s a solution on how to get pressurized water on Jeep JK. Without loosing valuable space inside the car.
This guy got really creative. the thing he did comes in handy. First of all, he obviously thinks like an off roader. The Jeep JK has a hollow rear bumper, with drain holes. It is obvious why the drain holes are there. It means the bumper can easily get full of water.
He plugged those holes and added a fill hole to the top. He now has a custom reservoir for pressurized water on his Jeep JK. But how to get the water out? If you place a faucet underneath, the water won’t be pressurized, and more important, the faucet will be vulnerable to off road obstacles.
So he added the faucet above the bumper and the system now uses a pump to get pressurized water out of the bumper. It runs perfectly now: the pump works on battery voltage, it turns on when you open the tap and it turns off when you close it. And yes, there is no danger of overheating, the pump will also shutdown if the bumper runs dry.
If you want running water you’ve got to have a place to put it. This is actually what sparked the idea for the project. We do have one small objection to the pump placement. It looks like the pump is in danger. That’s not the best place to put it without protection. But I am sure the solution is just temporary. Here’s another video:
