Teamwork – future of off roading

It has always been important to live by the rule – you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours. Helping each other is the way to success. It seems European off road competitions have realized it. I remember last year when Ultra4 Europe King of Italy offered a free participation for the Carta Rallye 2015. We’re not sure if the winner used it but Carta Rallye is skyrocketing and I am sure it helped in some way. Same thing happens this year, Croatia Trophy is working with 100T racks and it’s been announced that Wild Boar Valley Challenge will do the same thing with the Welsh Xtrem.

Events mentioned above are all in the same class – hard off roading with little or no room for errors. Croatia Trophy 2015

Croatia Trophy is a well known race, there’s no need to explain the details. 16th edition is scheduled for May in deep forest and sticky mud of Staro selo Topusko (Croatia). 100Tracks is a race held in Romania, it’s a unique event and the only off road race in FIA calendar.

Both races are very demanding for cars and crews as each competition lasts for 7 days, both use camping as accommodation facility, both have international participation, and competition cars are similar in terms of performance. Therefore, organizers of these two competitions decided to become partners in 2016 and to share their experience and know-how acquired over the years in off-road competitions.

The Welsh Xtrem 2015

As a part of their marketing campaign that will gather a bigger number of teams, Kamo Oko Vidi off road club decided to promote the Wild Boar Valley Challenge on some events in Europe. For starters, the Welsh Xtrem will give a free participation for the WBVC 2016. If you are there at Welsh Xtrem from 6th to 8th of March 2016, you can contact any of the marshals and register through a printed flyer they will give you. They will forward your data, so you can be contacted for further details.

  • The Welsh Xtrem – 6th to 8th of March
  • Croatia Trophy – 27th of April to 5th of May
  • 100Tracks – 23rd to 30th of July
  • Wild Boar Valley Challenge – 16th to 22nd of October

Hi, I’m the classic Car steward for Abergavenny steam rally and despite the name we have allot more classic cars than we do steam engineers. Even on rainy days we normally have around 150.

I’m trying to increase interest by inviting a more varied cross section of vehicles this year. I am a keen 4×4 enthusiast and was hoping to persuade some of your members to come along. preferably with vehicles over 25 years old or the more extreme 4×4 conversions and trialling vehicles.

The event is on May bank holiday of 29th and 30th. Its a good day out with lots going on to of interest. If its sunny allot of exhibitors come as groups with picnics which make it a good way to meet up with other enthusiasts.

Also 100% of the profits go to charitable and worthy causes. Its organised by unpaid volunteers of the Abergavenny Rotary which allowed us to raise around £30k last year

    Kind Regards

    David Tod
