Finland is a land of snow, it would be reasonable to say Russian winter will help Suominen to secure his first place overall.
It would also be reasonable to say this will help his countryman Lauronen who won today’s Special Stage at Northern Forest Russia.
But as usual, the Russian “rainforest” obviously did not help, the mud on the route is still very substantial.
Anyway, both Finns did a great job. Tapio Lauronen (Mitsubishi) won today’s 158 km long route in forest of the Republic of Karelia.
Tapio Suominen (Overdrive Toyota) slid of the track twice but other than that, he wasn’t having any problems.
Jouni Matti Ampuja finished second, interesting enough, he’s also from Finland.
