I used to think Abenteuer-Allrad in Bad Kissingen was the only great opportunity in Europe to meet various adventurous 4×4 enthusiasts from all around the world. But it looks like this off road festival has a serious competitor – Globetrotter Rodeo in neighbouring Austria. And unlike any other festival, this one is located in its natural habitat – the woods.
Globetrotter Rodeo in Erzberg, although not nearly as big as Abenteuer-Allrad, is a perfect opportunity for off roaders to meet, enjoy and buy various off road equipment. The forests of Erzberg hosted the off road festival for 10 years. This will be the 11th edition of the event.
It is scheduled for the last weekend of August, from 28th to 30th. More than 600.000 m² is available for free off road driving. The area is surrounded by the spectacular scenery of the Erzberg mountains, it offers a unique atmosphere and experience that cannot be found elsewhere.
Enormous side events will be held at Globetrotter-Rodeo in Austria. Presentations, workshops (such as welding using a car battery) and an exhibiton area with more than 35 leading brands presenting their range of products.
This year’s program focusses on Photography and Audio visions. Organization offers a new photography workshop in a specially provided Photo Workshop tent. The side event delivers a unique opportunity to present pictures of all subjects in a short slide show to the public and compete with other passionate photographers. Besides that, the new Photo Workshop tent offers workshops for travel photography, photography basics or “Wings Platinum Tips and Tricks”.
If nothing mentioned above suits your needs, free test drives of newest Can-Am models will be available and you’ll have plenty of opportunity to get stuck in mud with your own vehicle.
In 2014 the camp area has been overcrowded by more than 700 Off road vehicles. According to the fantastic feedback of participants and the ever increasing numbers of vehicles the organizers doubled the size of the camp area to create space for up to 1.200 vehicles for this year, meaning about 2.000 to 3.000 visitors from all over Europe.
The sanitary facilities, the shuttle service to the action areas at the driving terrain, the security concept as well as the entry procedures and gastronomy have been adapted to the rush demand. Entry fee of € 10 per person and € 50 per vehicle includes camping and everything mentioned above (food and beverages not included).
Currently the visitors are mainly from Austria and Germany but vehicles from Czech Republic, Slovenia, Italy and other countries from all over Europe also attended the event. The Event provides an important platform for experience exchange. Countless friendships have been developed while sitting around the campfire or exploring the off road area.
