Here’s an interview with Euro4x4Parts racing team, well known for their orange Land Rover Defender. We asked Francoise and Franck about the experience and their plans for this year. Euro4x4parts at Croatia Trophy 2015
Francoise Graciet-Hollender and Franck Daurelle finished 4th in the adventure class of Croatia Trophy 2015. Francoise, copiloting the orange monster answered a few questions.
- What do you think about the fact that many say this year’s Croatia Trophy wasn’t as tough as Croatia trophy 2014?
Yes, i believe it’s true, but it all depends on the weather conditions, and last year was really wet, to say the least. It has nothing to do with the terrain or the track, those were up to the
standards of Croatia Trophy as we know it. The organizers did the best work and no one can complain about it.
- Tell us a bit more about your experiences at CT2015.
We enjoyed the track and the race as a whole thoroughly. It is the one race that fits us the best so far. We were third until stage 6 when we suddenly encountered a problem with our exhaust manifold which prevented us to go on.
We went back to the camp, changed the manifold, taking it from the spare engine we’d brought with us, and took a new start 2 hours later.
We finished 15th that day, which led us to the overall 5th position. On stage 7 we had no mechanical problems and that was a really good day. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to rise above 4th overall.
We were sincerely hoping to stay on that third place because our driving and navigational skills, compared to some of the other teams competing, made us believe that we deserve it.
But fate decided otherwise… However, we are very happy with the result, no doubt about that! We are very proud of it!
- You said your next race is Transilvania Adventure Trophy in June. What are your expectations for the race? And could you tell us a bit more about the race itself?
Transilvania Aventura 2015 is a new beginning for the race that has had the reputation of an ultimate off road race in Europe.
A race for real off roaders.
Very hard race taking place in a beautiful landscape. We personally never took part at TAT in the earlier years, but every team we know wants to go back.
The only back-draw of that race was the organisation, or the lack of it. The new team has decided to change it all, for the best!
We’ll see how it goes in July….
- Besides CT and TAT, where else do you plan to race in 2015?
Our plan for 2015 consists of three races: Croatia Trophy, Transilvania Aventura and Breslau Balkan. The last one being a bit special to both of us, I met Franck there…
So, wish us luck!
